Hormone Skincare Diaries: Blue Light, Hormones and Your Skin
To me, nothing feels better than getting into bed, chamomile tea in hand ready to launch into my nightly routine. Over the past month, every evening has consisted of the following skin routine:
I’ve been using Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Night Complex II for about 10 months now, and like many women - I’m hooked. But I’m not here to preach about the industry’s number one selling serum (impressive huh?) I’m here to talk about how Estée Lauder’s new eye cream, the Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex Synchronised Recovery - wow now that’s a mouthful, or an eyeful. The ANR Eye Complex has been specifically designed to prevent visible damage from environmental factors, specifically blue light.
A recent study by Estée Lauder companies has proven the impact of blue light on skin for the first time. Discovering that blue light, specifically the light emitted from our phones, desynchronises skin cells’ natural rhythm, potentially opening skin up to more risk and accelerating the signs of ageing.
After concluding the results from their scientifically designed blue light chamber incubator, Estée Lauder developed a specific eye formula that repairs, brightens, but most importantly, prevents damage. As an avid iPhone X user (yes I coughed up a disgusting amount of money for a slab of technology that never leaves my side) it was clear I had to put this to the test.
Because causing skin cells to continue to ‘think’ it is daytime, impacting their natural nighttime repair process, which can lead to visible signs of ageing, and even dark under-eye circles.”
Beyond eye-related skin symptoms like dry eyes, red eyes and those previously mentioned, excessive exposure to blue light has led to a new studies supposedly finding a new digital sickness called Computer Vision Syndrome. CVS is affecting those who spend more than 3 hours a day in front of screens (pretty much everyone). From the TV to your smartphone to your work computer, symptoms are hurting not just our skin but our bodies as a whole.

And so, I tried this little pot of golden goodness for a month - the results? See for yourself below. To be fair, I have makeup on in the second photo but the bags are noticeably gone and I have healthier, softer and plumper eye area.
But let’s be honest, like most, my screen time is out of control, so there’s only so much Estée Lauder can do to help me.
