The Biggest Beauty Trends from NZ Fashion Week So Far
From smouldering eyes to beachy hues and smudged lips, see the best beauty looks from New Zealand Fashion Week 2017 so far.
Smudged lips at Company of Strangers
Company of Strangers’ AW 2018 collection reflects an augmented reality, a memory of the jilted woman is everywhere but nowhere, the representational mementoes of her have been smudged, erased and faded at the edges, now only showing faint lines, morphed shapes and blacked out patches.
Kiekie Stanners and the team from M.A.C Cosmetics reflected the collection through a barely-there look, fair brows and a heart-breaking smudged lip. The single look of the show proved that a simple face and a red lip will always go far.
Smouldering Metallic at Andrea Moore
Glitter tones and a smouldering eye was the Smashbox Cosmetics makeup look found centre stage at Andrea Moore. The looks were inspired by the new colour tones in Andrea Moore’s collection, incorporating them to ensure the makeup was modern and on trend.
The two makeup looks boasted statement offering a vibrant blue brow feature and a deep bold lid with a textured effect for the other. A dewy and clean complexion provided the skin with a lit-from-within glow keeping our eyes on the eye. Statement lids and coloured blocks have been strewn across the runways hinting a colourful addition to our 2018 makeup palette. These looks are not for the fainthearted and will ensure you are centre stage where ever you go.

Individuality at Zambesi
Redken, hair stylists for the Zambesi 2017 show, were inspired by the diversity of the collection and the range of characters that were cast to walk the show.
With backstage trims to emphasize the individuality of each model, each look also incorporated the award-winning One United Multi-Benefit treatment.
With an individual look, from effortless up-dos, to sleek and straight super hero ponytails, take inspiration to express your individuality for the 2018 season however you please.
Beachy hues and matte lips at New Generation
Subtle beachy hues paired with a dramatic liner by NZ Fashion Week associate partner, theBalm, opened the New Generation show for 2017. Using one of our favourite lipsticks, Meet Matt(e) Hughes, key makeup artist, Abbie Gardiner, designed the look to be easily created at home with minimal effort but producing maximum results.
The second look opted for an emphasized matte lip and extenuated lashes paired with a peachy blush to showcase a flushed cheek. These are simple yet beautiful looks that will be taking us from day to night. With an emphasis on a singular element, be a cheek, eye or lip, it’s as easy as that.
theBalm is at The Beauty Hub at NZ Fashion Week with experts on deck for all your touch up needs.
